Acknowledgements Forum Links | Here's the first Special Features article from the OPCFG's very first guest author - the one and only Johnny Undaunted! He's come up with a nearly complete list of Konami's Famicom games! Thanks, Johnny - this list is sure to be an invaluable resource to Famicom collectors (especially those interested in Konami's games).
I decided to compile a list of Konami's Famicom games that have been released in Japan in both cart and disk formats. The idea to list the titles in the order of their serial numbers came from a list of Konami titles I saw in a MSX site. Keep in mind that these games are listed by serial numbers, not by release dates. Yie Ar Kung-Fu is Konami's first Famicom game, although it has been serialized after Hyper Olympic and Road Fighter. Also, while most of the games listed here weren't released in America, some were under different titles. Gekimaden Ninjaden is actually the first TMNT game. TMNT is actually TMNT 2 and TMNT 2 is TMNT 3. Here's a list of name changes from Japanese to American.
Hyper Olympic - Track & Field The RC-8XX designation was the standard designation for Konami's Famicom titles. All RC-8XX titles used Konami's custom cartridge design, except Lagrange Point, which had a double-sized cartridge due to the VRC-7 mapper that was included inside the game, which was the most advanced of all of Konami's VRC mappers. BTW, RC-7XX was the standard designation for Konami's MSX cartridges. RC-250 is Exciting Boxing, which came with a special punching bag add-on made specifically for the game. Don't ask me why it doesn't have an RC-8XX designation. RV-XXX designated titles are late Famicom releases. This includes Tiny Toon Adventures 2 and the cartridge versions of Dracula and Upa. KDS-XX (with two initials) designated titles are standard Nintendo carts released by Konami. The only exception is KDS-ME (Metal Gear), which had a Konami casing. Don't ask me why it's not part of the RC-8 lineup. And finally, KDS-XXX (with three initials) are Famicom Disk Cards released by Konami. Cartridges RC-250 - Exciting Boxing
RC-800 - Hyper Olympics
RV-003 - Akumajou Dracula
KDS-1V - Bucky O'Hare Famicom Disk Cards
KDS-AKA - Final Command: Akai Yousai Cartridge Variants
RC-800 - Hyper Olympic: Tonosama Edition Unreleased Arc Hound - Shooting game. This was a planned Japanese version of Contra Force. Predator 2 - Behind-the-back shooter based on the movie. Although this was announced as a US title, I'm including it here. Q*Bert - Disk Card. Ultra released an NES version of Q*Bert in America, which could be a variation of this unreleased Disk Card. UPDATE 03/03/03 - Hotaka has taken the time to translate and recompile Johnny's article in Japanese - and he's included pics of some of the various carts! Check it out here. Johnny will be editing this article in the near future, so watch for an updated English version soon!
