2001 Update Archive

12/24/01 - Happy holidays, everybody! There's not much of an update, but I did Christmas-ize the logo on the main page. It ain't much, but in light of nothing new to put up, I just wanted to do something for the holidays.

Unless I come up with something new over the next few days, see you all in 2002!

12/23/01 - I've added two more Special Features articles, and made some adjustments to the Altered Beast Oddities article.

12/20/01 - I've added a new section showcasing Video Game Fiction (and remember, submissions are welcome!), and a new Special Features article. Enjoy!

12/18/01 - Added some new Links for the Blaster Master Underground, Flying Omelette's Kitchen, Crawl and 1000's Page!, The Old School Gamer and BigStu's 8-Bit NES Wonderland. Check them out!

12/16/01 - Just a quick note: Blaster Master: Blasting Again has been released for the PSX here in the U.S.! It may not be 2-D, but unlike certain other PSX sequels given the "obligatory" 3-D facelift - *cough*Contra: Legacy Of War*cough* - this doesn't suck. I'd go as far as to say that it's much better than the last Blaster Master that was released, Blaster Master 2 for the Genesis - which, even though it was 2-D, sucked something fierce.

It's only $9.99 too, so if you like Blaster Master, you have very little excuse not to get it. Trust me - I think it's worth it.

12/12/01 - I've added some more new Imports Reviews, and a link for PHM's Shinobi Website in the Links section. Enjoy!

12/10/01 - I've added another new Import Review. Check it out!

12/09/01 - Like the new look? I decided to redesign the site so it actually appears to be West Mansion's sister site (West Mansion being my Splatterhouse site on classicgaming.com). This is the first site redesign since the OPCFG first came online in 1998, so it's about time, I think. Keep checking back here, as there will be more Special Features articles, Import Reviews and more coming in the future!

Great news! As of 3:24 p.m. today, West Mansion reached a milestone of 10,000 hits! I'm so happy - none of my sites have EVER made it that high... until now! Check out the shot below that I grabbed when I saw the counter at 10,000 (I apologize for the quality of the shot, but I had to save it as a .jpeg file).

12/06/01 - Added a new Import Review, some more info to the Converter Fun article, and links to Pitfall Harry's Lost Video Game Cavern and The Ela Fountain in the Links section.

12/05/01 - Yet another Special Features article has been added, plus I've added some new info to the Converter Fun article. Take a look!

11/29/01 - I've added a new Special Features article, and a hilarious picture on the front page from Luke O'Sullivan. Check them both out!

11/21/01 - Happy Thanksgiving everybody! I've added another new article to the Special Features section, entitled Atari 2600 Games... FROM HELLLLLLL!!! Everyone's welcome to contribute a writeup on their own Atari 2600 game from hell, so if you want to share your opinion on one, please let me know.

11/19/01 - I've added a new article to the Special Features section, and also some box and manual shots of the Japanese game Kujakuo 2 (coutesy of geelw) to the Special Features Mystic Defender article.

Also, Gradius Galaxies for the Gameboy Advance is out! I have my copy, and I'll say that it is absolutely astounding. This could have been a console game, that's how good it is. By all means, go get it! I highly recommend it. Here's some pics to tide you over in the meantime:

Sweet.

11/15/01 - Added two new Special Feature articles, and a review of the import Capcom Vs. SNK 2 for the Dreamcast by Luke O'Sullivan is up in the Import Reviews section!

11/11/01 - I've added yet another new section - Special Features, and I have two articles up already - one on Capcom's overhead shooter Exed Exes, and another on the lost game in the Gradius series, Nemesis '90. Check it out!

11/7/01 - I've added a new import review written by the one and only Kurt Kalata, who had maintained the site during it's first three years of life. Thanks Kurt! I've also added a new cover to the Import Cover Archive.

Remember, contributions are always welcome.

10/31/01 - Happy Halloween! I've added a new import review today, this time of Holy Diver. I've also added some new cover scans to the Import Cover Archive (as always, thanks to Paul of Japan Gaming for the majority of the scans). Enjoy!

10/23/01 - Not much this time, just a special request from Patrick that can be found on the main page.

10/17/01 - I've added a new import store to the Import Stores section. Take a look!

10/15/01 - I've added a Import Cover Archive. Here I'll have cover shots of games that never made it to the U.S. Check it out!

10/14/01 - As of 10/9/01, Castlevania Chronicles has been released in the U.S.! For a mere $19.99 (plus tax), you can own this fantastic addition to the Castlevania library. I've got mine... and believe me, for that price - it's worth it.

10/8/01 - Today I've posted what will hopefully be the first of many reviews in the new Import Games section. Please, feel free to contribute a review if you'd like!

Also, tomorrow is the one year anniversary of my zero signal site. If you get a chance, stop by tomorrow and join the party!

10/7/01 - Added some new links - one for The Warp Zone, a great new site dedicated to the NES, Complete Aleste Shrine, which is dedicated to the fantastic Sega Genesis/Mega Drive shooter MUSHA, and Famiclan, the only site I've ever seen dedicated to the Famicom Disk System. Pretty sweet.

This past weekend, I got a good deal on one, so I picked up a Dreamcast. What a sweet little system. Got some good games with it too - to check it out, just head over to the Games section and take a look.

9/25/01 - Not much news this time. We've moved... again, and I've made a few changes to the site, specifically in the Games section. I've cleaned it up and made it easier to read and navigate through. In case you haven't noticed, I've also added a link to my Splatterhouses petition. Please sign it if you get a chance.

Any comments on the site are always welcome, of course.

9/16/01 - Fantastic news!

Thanks to Destroy All Monsters, I just found the website for the upcoming ZANACXZANAC for the PSX! Unfortunately, my knowledge of Japanese is extremely limited, so I have no idea what it says... I've been out of touch for a while too, so it might have been released already. I'm not certain. What I do know is that it's going to have both the original Zanac and the all new Zanac Neo on the disc. Joy!

Compile rocks.
